TASMANIAN ALKALOIDS WINS BOTH GOLD AND LEADERSHIP AWARDS

At the Australian Business Excellence Awards ceremony in Sydney on Thursday 21 June, Tasmanian Alkaloids was recognised for outstanding business achievement with a prestigious Gold Award and the Australian Business Excellence Leadership Award for 2007.

The Awards are only given after a very rigorous review of all the company's business practices and continuous improvement in business performance.

In accepting the awards Managing Director of Tasmanian Alkaloids, Mr. Brian Hartnett said "Tasmanian Alkaloids is honoured to accept these prestigious awards on behalf of our 250 employees, 500 farmers and 50 contractors, in all about 800 Tasmanians. Tasmanian Alkaloids is a global exporter in highly competitive markets and we have long recognised the value of the Business Excellence process in ensuring that we function at peak performance and continuously improve".

Tasmanian Alkaloids is also actively engaged with the wider Tasmanian community. "As a corporate citizen we are proud that we are very well regarded throughout Tasmania for our extensive community involvement". Mr. Hartnett said.

Tasmanian Alkaloids' success follows many others who have shown that national and international success can be achieved from Tasmania. Mr Hartnett said "Tasmania is a great place to operate a business and we encourage others to also take Tasmanian expertise to global markets."
