Tasmanian Alkaloids is a fully integrated manufacturer located in Tasmania, utilising agricultural feedstock grown in the state.

1.How many people are employed by TasAlk?
TasAlk employs over 200 Tasmanians.

2.How much does TasAlk contribute to the Tasmanian Economy?
Salaries, wages and payments to farmers are all contributing to the Tasmanian economy.

3.How many farmers grow poppies for TasAlk?
Purchases poppy crop from about 500 farmers throughout Tasmania.

4.Does TasAlk use the services of Tasmanian companies?
Deals with 400 Tasmanian firms in a wide range of goods and services.

5.What are TasAlk's inputs?
As well as poppy crops, there are purchases of materials for processing and other services such as engineering, contracting, power etc., the majority of which is sourced from within Tasmania.

6.Does TasAlk do anything other than process poppies?
Our Research and Development program creates innovations leading to worldwide patents, transforming the global medicinal opiates industry.

7.Where do TasAlk's products go?
95% of our production of high value pharmaceutical raw materials is exported to all parts of the world. The other 5% is sold within Australia.

8.Does TasAlk support community groups and charities?
The TasAlk community outreach program supports local business, charity and community organisations. TasAlk is also the largest sponsor of scholarships at the University of Tasmania.

9.What sort of jobs are there at TasAlk?
One third of all employees are graduates. A wide range of skilled trades employees are needed to maintain the factory. Continuous development and training are actively promoted.

10.How does TasAlk rate on the world pain relief products scene?
Tasmanian Alkaloids is recognised as the largest manufacturer of poppy alkaloid raw materials in the world, renowned for reliabilty and quality.
