Our Business

Tasmanian Alkaloids is a fully integrated manufacturer of controlled substances providing medicinal opiates from our own poppy varieties, grown on farms across Tasmania. Employing in excess of 200 people we are the largest Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients manufacturer in Australia and the largest exporter of codeine and thebaine in the world.

We must maintain in good order the property we are privileged to use, protecting the environment and natural resources. Utilizing innovative technologies and leveraging best practices globally for the greatest environmental gain and continuous improvement will assure our positive contribution to protection of the environment.

Strategy

A compliance culture is expected of our visitors, contractors, employees and processes. Clearly defined objectives and targets shall be established, communicated and measured to assure the requirements of applicable laws, our own internal policies and standards, the Healthy Planet Goals, ISO 14001 environmental management system standards and other voluntary principles to which we subscribe are met and exceeded. Objectives and targets will be established and regularly reviewed by the Environmental, Health and Safety Steering Committee. Environmental performance will be reported to employees and other interested parties.
